What Are My Rights When Charged with a Crime in Florida?

This great constitution that we have affords everybody a number of rights, and not just in Florida, but in every state across this United States. One of the most important rights that you have is the right to remain silent, the right to not speak into a tape recorder, the right not to write anything down, the right to never speak to an officer without your attorney present, and that’s the second most important right that you have, the right to an attorney. I would advise you to never speak to an officer, whether it’s a federal officer or a state officer, without your attorney present. Your attorney can advise you whether a statement should be made at all, and if statement should be made, then what it is that you should be saying.
