What is white collar crime?
White collar crime is simply a fancy name for nonviolent, typically business-type crimes. Any crimes involving fraud, involving theft, involving conspiracy not including drugs, not including violent crimes is called white collar crimes. White collar crimes are very, very serious. You read about them all the time. It’s bank fraud, it’s mail fraud, it’s all sorts of crimes, usually involving money, usually involving large amounts of money that interests the federal authorities.
When it’s smaller amounts, usually the state authorities prosecute, but when it’s a significant case of white collar crime or business crime, the feds get involved. It is very serious for individuals, for corporations, for other business entities to be well represented whenever the federal authorities are looking at you or your company, alleging the commission of a white collar crime.
