What Is a Drug Schedule?

A drug schedule is a list of drugs formatted by the legislature. It's based on potential for abuse and whether there's any sort of medical need for the drugs. So what that means is, for example, a schedule one drug would be something like heroin. There's a significant potential for abuse of it and there isn't really much medical need for it, and then the drug table goes down, there's morphine on there, cannabis, and it goes even lower than that. The reason why that's important for you is the type of drug that you're convicted or charged with determines what kind of sentence you're going to get at the end, so it's imperative to have an attorney who understands how the drug schedule works. Understands the ramifications for what that means with respect to your sentence, and is gonna get you the best defense possible.
