What is white-collar crime?
White-collar crime is simply a name for all sorts of business crimes, all kinds of frauds … mail fraud, wire fraud, healthcare fraud, mortgage fraud, bank fraud, crimes involving the Securities Exchange Commission, matters under their jurisdiction, the Federal Reserve. White-collar crimes are business crimes. They’re very, very different from crimes of violence, defending murder cases or defending grand theft cases, things like that. If you are being accused of being involved in a white-collar crime, a conspiracy, it is essential that you have a lawyer with years and years of experience in defending people, in representing people who are being accused of a white-collar crime.
You know what I’ve found in my 41 years, is that people who are involved in white-collar crime are very often educated, they’re often professionals … doctors, lawyers, stockbrokers, realtors, bankers … They somehow feel that they can talk their way out of it, they can get out of it, they’ve covered their tracks, things of that nature. It’s never the case, because the more they do to try to get out of it or to cover themselves, the more evidence that piles up against them. So it is critical that you have an experienced white-collar criminal defense attorney, whether you’re charged in state court or federal court, if it involves a white-collar crime!
The sooner you get an experienced criminal defense attorney, the better off you will be.
