Are there any medical marijuana laws in Florida?
At this time, the end of January, 2015, there are no medical marijuana laws in Florida. However, laws have been proposed and it’s very likely, in my opinion, that laws will pass allowing medical marijuana in very limited cases involving serious illness. All the tests have shown that marijuana, if prescribed and used properly, can be lifesavers for people that desperately need it.
Unfortunately, the conservative legislatures in the State of Florida, usually Republicans, vote against it almost every time. I think things are changing now, but the fact of the matter is marijuana possession, even by people who are getting the marijuana and using it for their children, their family members who are ill, who desperately need it, who’s physicians tell them they need it, it’s still a crime.
It’s absolutely essential that you be represented by an experienced criminal defense lawyer should you have the horrible misfortune of being charged with marijuana related crime when all you were trying to do was help somebody desperately in need of the medicinal benefits of marijuana.
